Too often I get caught up trying to blog or make money off commissioned artworks and I forget to create for myself. Visually expressing my life and thoughts through images is therapeutic and vital to my sanity. Therefore, during the next few weeks I want to dedicate my extra time to creating a series of Visual Diary entries, like the sketch below. The purpose for my virtual hiatus is to focus more on expressing myself and less on exhibiting my artwork through the internet. This isn't a permanent "goodbye" ...more of a "see you soon". Past Painting II
This is a 14"x18" acrylic painting I worked on during 2009-2011. I recently gave it to my brother, Christian, so it now resides in South Africa with him.

Sketchbook Painting
This is an acrylic painting I did in my sketchbook while drinking with my sister. I only worked on it the one night but I've debating revisiting it to make it look more finished. I thought it came out pretty interesting considering the amount of wine I consumed during its process. ;)

Male Figure Open Studio
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been M.I.A. recently and not posting any of my work. I rearranged my schedule for August to allow more time for my artwork and blogging. Here are some graphite figure/portrait studies I did a few weeks ago at an open studio class at DuCret School of Art.

Bushwick Drink and Draw
A friend of mine and I attended a Figure Drink and Draw class in Brooklyn this past friday. The live nude model did a few short poses followed by a couple long poses. I used graphite pencils and prismacolor pencils in my 9"x12" sketchbook.

Open Studio Figure Drawing
Last night I was able to attend an Open Studio Figure Class at DuCret School of Art in Plainfield, NJ. The live model started with some short poses and then a couple long poses. I decided to use prismacolor pencils and graphite pencils.

Summit Fine Art Festival Update II
Here are more photos from the festival http://summit.patch.com/groups/around-town/p/summit-festival-of-fine-arts--crafts
One of my five minute portraits, Katie.
Evolution of a Painting I
I've been working on this 30"x40" acrylic painting for the past 3 years. My progress hasn't been constant because I've taken breaks for weeks at a time, but I just recently worked on it again to show at the Summit Fine Art Festival. However, I still consider it a work in progress and I plan on continuing to paint until it feels complete. I'll be posting updates as this painting evolves into a finished piece. (please excuse the low quality photos)
The Wall Update II
Here's an update from the mural collaboration I've been working on with my sister. I've been working in acrylic paints while my sister has been using ink, acrylic, and watercolor paints.
Summit Fine Art Festival
This past sunday, June 23rd, I had the opportunity of showing and selling my artwork at the Summit Fine Arts Festival. Even though the heat was almost unbearable, many people came to the festival. It was overall a great experience to learn from and network with new possible clients. Below are some pictures from the event and the artwork that I exhibited.
I was doing five minute portraits for five dollars.

8"x10" acrylic painting
8"x10" oil painting

I was also inviting people to look through one of my small sketchbooks. However I wont be posting any pictures from it because there are far too many. You'll just have to come to my next festival or event to see if I'm exhibiting it again :)
