Colorado
Escaped to Colorado this past weekend for some much needed rest and reconnection with nature. The mountains are incredible and the sky is endless. Definitely fell in love with Colorado
Artwork on Walls
This is a photo of a friends room who has accumulated a lot of my artwork over the years. The three center paintings are done by me. All of them were started around the same time in 2009-2010. However I recently worked on the middle painting last december and this past weekend. The text on the middle piece was written/painted by Macky Losole, a writer and friend of mine whose room this is. I used acrylic paint on all three paintings except the bottom picture, I used acrylic paint and black ink.

Ceiling Mural I
Here's a bit of progress on a mermaid ceiling mural I'm currently working on. I have much respect for Michelangelo, its much harder than it looks to paint while looking up at a ceiling. Don't mind the awful quality phone pictures though.

Server Series I
Working as a waiter in a restaurant may pay the bills but it can be creatively draining. Which is why I try to stimulate my artistic muscles as much as possible while working. I do this by doodling or sketching some of the restaurant customers. Also, I write down ideas or thoughts about life or artwork I want to pursue or concepts I find interesting.
In addition, I started a series of collaged sketches, drawn while working at the restaurant. The writing you see are not my thoughts but rather the food orders I take from customers. I've saved all the orders I take with the intention of creating multiple collaged pieces. I find my written orders interesting because of the mindlessness and genuineness of them. Very often I'm busy at work with multiple tables to attend to, so when taking orders I'm not thinking which color pen to use or how my penmanship looks. They're purely information needed in that moment. Even if my spelling is wrong or my handwriting is illegible, as long as I can understand it, thats all that matters. And thats what I like about it.

Belly Dancer
Tonight, at my open studio class, I got the opportunity to draw a belly dancer while she danced. I've never had to draw a model in motion, it was both challenging and interesting. The night ended with a 30min long pose. Definitely something I would try again.
Business Cards
I made business cards for the first time yesterday using this painting I'm currently working on. Super excited to see how they come out! I'll post pictures when they come in the mail.
Female Portrait
I went to an open studio class last night and there was live music! Very fun! Heres the portrait I did of the model in graphite. I'll be going to another open studio tonight so there will be more pictures to come :)
